Backpacker Eats in the Huon Valley — Summer Kitchen
Welcome to our simple English blog about the Huon Valley. We write this blog for backpackers on a working holiday and for other travellers like you.
A new blog series
Today we start another short series on our blog, for travellers like you — Backpacker Eats in the Huon Valley. We want to use this series to talk with you about great places to eat in Huonville, Cygnet, Franklin, Geeveston and beyond.
An amazing organic bakery
If you like quality organic bread and baked treats, you will love the Summer Kitchen Bakery. If you come from Europe and you miss the bakery in your hometown, this is the place for you. And if you enjoy vegan food, they have many options.
The owners put so much love into everything they bake. They use a wood-fired oven and traditional methods to make fantastic breads, including amazing sourdough breads. They also make great croissants, cakes, pies, vegan food, and more. And they have a small café where they offer good coffee!
Now, it isn’t the cheapest bakery in Australia. So you won’t be able to eat here every day when you’re fruit picking. But you should come at least once and try it. Maybe even once a week. You will be happy you came!
Finding the Summer Kitchen
The Summer Kitchen is at 1 Marguerite St in Ranelagh. Ranelagh is the small town just northwest of Huonville — about 2min from the Huonville roundabout.
The bakery is open from 7:30am to 4pm (16:00), Monday to Friday, and 8am to 4pm (16:00), Saturday and Sunday. You can check out more about the Summer Kitchen on their facebook page.
As always…
As always, if you need a place to stay while you work in the Huon Valley, you can stay with us at Pilgrim Hill.
Till next week, safe travels!
